Last saturday I hunted an area where they are demo-ing the sidewalks and streets. The sidewalks were laid in the 1960 area. Found a total of 19 wheats, clad and under the area where the walk was, found a nice ring. The ring according to an appraiser and jeweler, was a salesman's 'stock' ring, that was designed for the customer to pick the center stone. It is 14K gold, 18 'single cut' diamonds (jeweler said that as he says they are pretty old and are not made anymore) of about 1/2 c, says the ring is brand new, never worn and has a rather rare old 'cage' mount. It had the original copper tag around the band with '14K', '8707', '35', '2105', and '27 cust' scribed on it. There were three jewlery stores within a half block and all have gone out of business before 1990. The ring was bent slightly and appeared to have been stepped on. Anyway he appraised it for around $1800 as it sat and I added a .27 c stone to the center and he says it is now appraised at around $2800 - 3000!
