This morning's hunt at the silver farm was only mildly productive; I found a 57 Rosey and .32 in clad, nothing special. The afternoon hunt at a house in the neighborhood ended up being special, though, as you will see... I finished an area by the old garage and pulled a 53D wheat, then moved closer to do another small area near the house. Pretty soon, they started popping out: wheats, war nickels, Indians and a 49S Rosey. I just traded 69 silver Roseys in, which means I dug 69 that I didn't need in an album. This 49S is the first Rosey keeper I've had in ages! Wouldn't you know, it's the lowest mintage in the silver Roosevelt series
. The wheats were 1911, 19, 25, 27, 29, 30, 38 and three commons. The war nickels are both 43P, and the Indians are 83, 95 and 06.
Now, on to the cars. Near the house, I started digging in sand, and figured the area must have been a sandbox; my powers of deduction are without equal
. Two strong half dollar signals netted this Jeep, which is a Tootsietoy and this convertible. The latter doesn't have any identifying marks that I can see, but some of you folks might recognize it. The Doublemint is for size comparison only! I haven't had such an interesting session in a while.
A little sandpaper under the larger car reveals it to be a Tootsietoy as well, with a number "P - 10297" on it. I'll try to get an idea of its age, but I'd appreciate expert (quicker) help!
