Coincidence ? I think it is not !!! I have not been detecting at all this year because I have been busy trying to get into black smith work and welding. But today I made a new acquaintance and somehow the words metal detecting were mentioned. And then I said that I had not detected any at all this year but that i did a lots last year. A lost ring was mentioned in the conversation. So naturally I had to mention that I had been successful at finding lost rings for some folks in the past. After hearing all the stories of the troubles that this ring loss had caused my words were "If it will help you out I will try to find it !" But I am probably rusty because of no practice detecting I am willing to try and find the ring for you.
On arriving home I rounded all my detecting gear cleaning the mouse leavings off my gear and grabbing extra batteries just in case the hunt took a long time. On arriving we chatted a while and he showed me the area where he believed the ring was deposited at. I went and got my detector out and un-boxed the new headsets that I had just run out to the store to buy , my old ones were worn out and the cord was unreliable to.
Coincidentally the ring was lost the day after my last posting to TreasureNet. On talking to the guy I was not the first detectorist who had searched for the ring, the aforementioned guy failed to find it. The engagement ring had a large 2 cart or more dark chocolate center stone surrounded by 20 plus high quality small diamonds in a custom made 14K gold band. After finding numerous pieces of metal I was beginning to feel like the odds were not in my favor , given my rustyness and lack of practice but I resolved not to give in. After my pouch was nearly completely full I had a nice 19 conductive signal on my E-Trac shallow and very repeatable. I used my pinpointer and then my screwdriver to move some ground carefully and on using the pin-pointer to search thru the dirt the gold became visible !!! Sorry if the picture is a bit blurry but this was the best one my hands were shaking rather badly it appears.

Second Pic : "Just returned engagement ring"

Fourth Pic: "On her finger again! "
They were both so floored to get the ring back again it was totally priceless !!! BTW he says the custom ring was appraised at over Eight Thousand dollars a few years back and that it will be reappraised and then insured !!! Oh i now have hunting permission for some very choice spots too
I expect to wake up with the hunting fever bad tomorrow
