try the local historical society or even the local library. sometimes libraries have local history sections. tell the librarian that you are researching old swimming spots. they can probably hook you up!

Anyway - you could go ask the old fart down the street where he swam, or like hollow says, the historical society. They were common gethering areas depending on what "old" mean to you.

Here's a tip I've done often. I buy old post cards showing swimming holes, then seek them out and hunt them. I've had great success in the mid-west this way.

Yeah I do that too. Go on ebay and type in the name of your favorite lake under post cards. Beaches, old fishing resorts ect ect will show up in your search. Here's a post card on ebay from the 1950's that shows the small tackle store, boat rental marina I worked at as a teen.
