how common are half dollar proofs?

any recant proofs taken out of circulation by CRH'ers significantly in a signle box?

From what i've heard silver half dollars are rarer than proofs and more valuable as well. Silver is always the best thing out there to save.

i know silver half dollars are more valueable, just don't know how uncommon proofs are.

The proofs are A LOT more rare, at least in my experience. I have found maybe 20 clad proofs total. In all fairness though, I no longer date check every single half dollar, so I have probably missed a few.

Proofs are rarer. Silver was intended for circulation, proofs never are. To spend a proof coin, someone has to cut it out of the mint packaging and then spend it. But 1969 and previous silver halves were all intended for circulation.

In 8 full half dollar boxes I have found 1 proof and a total of 8 silver halfs. Same thing with dimes, one proof to the 15 silver dimes I've found. So in my experiance the proofs are harder to find.

Rarity in order of most common:

1 40% halves
2. 90% halves
3. Clad Proofs
4. Silver Proofs (found 5 in one box a few months ago)

Yeah but once a Proof has hit circulation it's no better than a common clad (unless it's a silver proof). I have found several in my searching endeavors, though no silver proofs.
