Anyone ever hunt here. It was a old public swimming pool, it closed back in the late 60's. I hunted there a few years back,90% of what i found was pre 1964 and a few rings. The person who owns it was in the process of tearing it down and then it stoped ?. Check it out, if you go there hunt in between the pool and the tennis court, and east of the pool where where the old house sat. It is on Strong St between Main & Orange. Good luck D.W.

Welcome to T-Net.

The pool one behind the Lawnmower shop? If that is the place, a friend of mine, Darrel, turned me on to that place. After a couple of weekends of hunting it, the old lady next door told us to scram or she would call the police.

The place was fenced at the time, but the gate was open and with no lock. They eventually put a lock on the fence but it still has 2 1/2 foot gap.

I found 9 or 10 silver dimes, a mix of Merc's and Rosse's, and several war nicks. They still have plenty left. Do you know a contact? Or can you get us in, I know the spot the coins are still hiding at.

Darrel, is this you, this is Tony?

Thats the place, when i was there the guy had just bought the place and said i could hunt there, since then the place burnt down and the fence went up. Dont know how to get ahold of the owner, i think the lady kind of watches the place for him. Great place to hunt very little trash and everything is old, the place has been there since the forties. We use to swim there when we were kids back in the 60"s,I only hunted the area by the pool, i bet the area by the house and the little gate would be good because thats where you would go in and it was all ivy back then. The place will not be there much longer too bad. I drive by every now and then to see i if i see the owner but no luck, seen that the gate was locked and did not want to take a chance.

Glad that someone else was lucky, got a tracker IV found alot with it, use to have a whites 4900 it broke and always had a hard time with it. Looking to upgrade on the BH, but its so easy to use and light can hunt all day. Good Luck D.W.

Oh.

We hunted the place back in Aug. and Sept. I found most of my coins at back side of the pool, near the old crumbled down barbeque pit. We never made it over to the house area.

Did you notice the old house that was recently moved to Bandani? If you did, the lot that it was moved from is a good spot for very old coins. The owner told me it was ok to hunt until he starts developing it.

Thanks for the info on the old house site. Going to check out old farmer Browns Dairy, its a dairy from way back thats been gone for 40 years, and nothing has been build on the lot. Its in the same end of town as the other place, it was like a drive in dairy and the drive was gravel maybe something there?

I hunted the Dairy and found a few things. A bulldurm locket and a few wheats and some other coins. That was with my GB-2 a year of so ago. I've been trying to hit it again with my ML SE but I just haven’t had enough time.

You might want to try and to keep an eye on the Bandini site if you have enough time, when they start to develop (scrap) the parking strip more goodies will be available. But it won’t last long.

Hey, I found some more information on this site:

William Elliot bought the site in 1886, he drilled a well at least 370-foot to get more water for the spring. He had a pool put in and a special bathhouse. Hollywood used the pool at times for swimming scenes because the water was so clear. A couple of actors, Houdini and Buster Keaton acted in movie scenes at the pool.

It changed ownership a few times and after the water started to dry up it closed in 1950. It was reopened in 1960 without the sulfur water but closed again in 1961.

I think we can ask the old lady, maybe bring her some flowers and act nice.
