Here is the back with no discernible backmarks. Shank is broken off, but the nubs are still there.

Looks like there could be some info under all that crud, but maybe not? I don't know much at all about old flat buttons, but my thoughts are yours is 18th to maybe early 19th century in age. Could be something very rare for all I know? Hopefully someone who is more knowledgeable with reference books will come along to assist in solving this? I definitely would like to find out what it is.
