I agree with Mike. Looks like 70's or 80's.

The inscription is oddly worded to me... "giving me a part in your life". Almost sounds like something an actor would say. Anyway, the haircut on the portrait reminds me of Mel Gibson back in the "Lethal Weapon" movies.
