Who says MDing is easy and I am ready for the Bayou with today's find

I am looking for a place in the woods that I heard of close to a spot I have been sweeping. I been told I would know it when I seen it. So I looked for a way in.

You can tell by the pics that is it full of thick large briars, down trees from Hurricane Ivan, etc. I just tried to find a route walking back and forth. Finally I decided a large oak I could see was where I was gonna try. The oak was only about 20 yards or so in. I was thinking God don't let me get lost looking for this place, I sure don't want to spend the night in here.
After some zig zagging I finally made it to the Oak and found this machete sticking up by it. God provided for sure. It isn't old I know but I was sure glad to find it.
It was pretty rusty as you can see on some of it. You can also see where I removed the rust using it to blaze a trail.
I only had about 1 1/2 hours till dark and only made it about 100 feet in cutting a trail. I think I am close now just need to find a way across a creek that is about 40 feet wide I came upon. Who says MDing is easy
I am ready for the Bayou with my new digging tool. ;)

your hunting ground looks similar to the crap my brother drags me through. Infact here is a list of items that I now carry with me on these hunts.
Snake bite kit
bee sting kit
first aid kit
tick/bug spray
compass
water
nuts and gran bars
long sleeve shirt(my arms still look like I have been attacked by cats)
and ususally my bro carries a gun cause of wild hogs, snakes, or 2 leg critters

I might gripe a little but this is my fav kind of hunting

I think you must have crossed over from Florida into Alabama territory from the looks of those pics! :D

Hmmmm, looks kinda familiar. Sure you weren't doing some early scouting? >:( ;D

Yellow jacket holes are generally in the sunshine areas. You will DEFINITELY know when you have disturbed one of them. I've never had the pleasure, but my a$$ was doing some brush clearing under some pine trees one day. He was about 75 yards from the house. I'm in the kitchen and I hear "OPEN THE DOOR OPEN THE DOOR OPEN THE DOOR!!!!!!!!!!. At this point, I'm not sure I want to DO that! Welllll, I did. Here he comes piling in the door, yellow jackets ALLLLLL over his clothing. I'm beatin' the crap out of 'em trying to kill the yellow jackets before they abandon him and invade the house! ;D I wish now I could have been a little mouse in the corner. Those yellow and black things were hangin' all OVER him!

In the meanwhile, his chainsaw was runnin' full bore out in the yard, which it continued to do until it ran out of gas several quarter-hours later. And don't forget the cotton gin workers who were watching this spectacle from afar. They saw that chain saw going flying, took their hats off, slappin their fat thighs, and never lended a hand. Good ole boys! >:(

Hi bridgeend farm, that looks like what I used to survey through in Al. Just might be worth it, you never know. Put a good edge on that machete it looks like you're gonna need it! Now that you've shown us the challenge -we're anticipating the pics. HH

Well come on over, I could use a partner, kinda hard to find someone to go into stuff like this with you. I don't know how folks carry their machines in mine kept getting hung up in the vines and brairs. Wild hogs had crossed my mind but I didn't see any signs Yet. It is so thick you can only see about 10 feet in front of you .

I will take more pics as I get to where I am going. I hope to be at it in the next 3-500 yards. Might be all the rain we have had for this creek was discribed as a walk down cross over type like down a bank, over a ditch, and back up the other side. And you definitly are not walking across it right now where I have been.

That trailblazing part sounds like fun.

That spot you're look for -- is it an old abandoned house?
Good luck and hope you find a cache.

Sounds like fun to me....break down your machine and put into a backpack...frees up your hands and keeps machine safe.....I wear safety goggles when I am in brush like that, because I got tired of branches smacking me in the face....wear heavy leather gloves . I also pull my bandana up over my nose because as mentioned before ...I get tired of branches scratching at my face......
I have been in alot of areas hunting like this....just keep swinging
