whole Spanish silver. help ID

I found this in my colonial site about 8in down, I never got the ID for it, could anyone tell me what kind it is? it is about the size of a watch battery and it says 1735 on it.

I guess that depends on the size of the watch battery! :) A 1/2 real is a bit smaller than a dime. I don't know if Spain ever made a 1/4 real which would be about the size of watch batteries I'm used to :laughing7:

It's probably a 1/4 real then. Have you tried to clean that crud off of it? Hard to read in its current state....just wet it and wrap it tightly in aluminum foil for a few minutes. Wash with dish soap and repeat with new foil till clean. It'll take that black crud off if it's silver which it probably is. Make sure it's not a key date which it probably is not.
 

well on the front side there it said V.D.G PHILIPPUS and on the other side i do know it from 1735
