Why does my AM Omega have a hole in its last riffle?

Hello everyone,

I have been searching for hours to figure this out...

Why is there a hole in my last riffle? I bought a used AM Omega and I can only assume the hole is meant to be placed over a container to catch "con tailings"?

It is in the middle of the last boil box drop riffle at the end of the sluice.

I am really stumped...

On the very left of the photo you can see it. It's a AM factory hole so I know it serves a purpose!

i agree with Prospector70. thats to hang it up. I drilled a hole in all of my gold pans at the edge so i can hook it to something for carrying it around.

I couldn't find much information about it online, I did however see an AM high-banker setup that had a spray bar that looked mounted in the same area. I'd cover it with something that has a low or no profile. (why waste a riffle?)

fill it with epoxy and go get that AM wet!

Haha once I get a 4000gph to fill the darn thing. It's working area is 13 wide and 17.75 total!

Thanks for the replies. I still think tree is something more to the hole, as the AM Excalibur (a dual sluice high banker) has a last riffle hole to transfer last chance nuggets to the safer fine gold sluice under the main sluice. I just don't see how the Omega fits in with that idea!
