I have been hunting the school construction project and have posted a few nice finds.... my XLT keeps cutting out... and it is because there is so much iron trash.. nails etc...each hunt I pick up well more than an apron full of nails, iron bits.. lead pieces etc. Each time it rains, there are more and more pieces laying on top of the ground...... I saw the first pic of things laying on the ground so I picked them up......

Then I scanned the ground where the nails were... and bam.... 1865 2 cent piece... although you cant really tell much from the scan...... it is in decent shape..... I think the more iron I carry out, the more good signals I am going to hit.... I have already taken out a 5 gallon bucket of junk already... this space is only about 15'-20' by 30'......... will go back tonite and see what else I can pull ouaa this great spot!

All of that digging paid off! Super find!!!

Congrats! Nana :)

That is a great frame of mind to detect a spot like that with. I need to take that attitude when I go back to the rusty iron farm I detect in Michigan. Just focus on clearing out all of the iron junk, and you are sure to find a few cool relics, and maybe even a few great coins!!!!

Stay positive!!!!

Jim

Keep cleaning that spot up, more great coins just waiting to be dug up

It gets discouraging picking up all that junk.....but it takes one good find like that to make it worth while..

Way to go.........

YEP!!!!! Thats how you have to do it!!!! remove the junk and the good stuff will jump out at you! Goodluck  QUICKSILVER(appletree)

Nice find ..Ive had that same overload in super trashy spots like that..Get a long magnet with the wood handle (Big Box Hardware stores have em some have a handle & wheels..I took wheels off mine)and try sweeping the spots with that youll be suprised how many Iron targets it can clear & save on digging..H Hunting Bill
