WIFE GOT A NICE 1740 HALFPENNY & ANOTHER - BARREL TAP KEY BUTTONS ETC

Remember, the pointed end of a large pick axe works wonders in helping to break up those compacted shells.

Thanks, I'll try that on my next trip, Saturday. Question for you...in a farm field how does this stuff pack back down when filling the hole? When I go to put this stuff back I'll put the shells in 1st of course and then put the top soil back a top. But can I expect it to pack down ok? Dont want any huge mounds i have to explain to the farmer. lol ...like you say, these sob's litterally ate a boat load of oysters every year.

Its usually not a problem, but its a good idea to pack it down in layers as you fill it in. If you just start piling all the shells in the hole you might run into a problem. But as you said, make sure you put all the shells, bricks and bones in first.

Congrats on another great hunt

Barrel key is great, I found one similar before.

Congrats on the copper and key.
I would be interested in finding out what your going to use as a sifter in the clay. I have a spot that is clay, actually the clay pit is at the edge of the field where they mined the clay to make brick.

That's one beautiful KGII. Coingrats!

Very nice CP. That is an awesome spot. Your hard work is appreciated! GL&HH.

Looks like you got yourself on a great site. Nice finds. I thought the key was a clock winder. I'll have to take a look at a similar one I found.
