Dug this button today,theres a wild boad on front on back it says Standard Extra Treble.

It looks like the style of a Livery button.

similar but totally different construction, this is a late 19th C Hunts (sports) button - I think :wink:

Yep!!The sportsman buttons have kind of a neat history,and I am amazed at how many we find in our sites.
In England hunting was a Royal sport and a fellow with his hunting coat was a show of stature.

There were several diff. types of the boar buttons

Wild boar hunting was a favorite sport of kings and nobles, and some estates in Europe still keep the fierce little animals on their property for hunting.
In the 1800s southern and central European hunters often pursued game only for a trophy, usually the head or pelt of an animal, to be displayed as a sign of prowess. The rest of the animal was often discarded.
