Finished the lower section of the field (bottom 1/3rd) where all the archaeology is & where the soil is sandy. Further up the hill it turns to heavy clay & the older finds run out. (4.5 hours hunt)

Lovely weather with clear Sky's but still cold & on my own again.

3 scrappy Romans
1620s Royal Farthing
Jetton
Nice 1 piece button - never had this design.
Aluminium promotional token

Second to last run, I found a small silver object. Stuck it in the pouch thinking it was Victorian, when I cleaned it at home I noticed no hallmark :o Very pleased with the workmanship of this very nice whatzit.

The stubble field which I will try & finish tomorrow is hard work, but its all I have for awhile. At least they are ploughed fields!

Any lead?
Lots of iron means activity, so must be other stuff as well. Maybe worth doing when you upgrade or stick at it (as long as its not costing you).

i only spent two hours there to be fair, my little girls feet were cold!
we only found 1 bit of lead and the coin, the rest was all iron and lots of it!!
it has a brook running alongside which seems to be feeding a pond at the bottom corner of the field! i will get back there but on my own next time :D

It sounds promising to me, just need a bit of effort.

not sure how long it will be available for, he has piles of muck all around the middle of the field!
do they still plant stuff this late?

It varies from place to place. I just heard that one of our farmers is going to plant stuff in early Feb. But the majority should have been done by now. So you may have a month or two.

Sweet finds Cru, wonder what that small silver piece came off of??

Not sure really, if leather it must have been thin.

Nice finds per norm Crusader! That small silver piece reminds me of a Norman mount piece for a horse bridle, just a thought. HH, Mike

maybe it was thin leather and this is why the hole had to be reinforced,(like the little rings you stick over the holes on paper to stop the clip pulling through) also on the back the rivets have been reinforced with washers to stop them pulling through!
maybe???
