Winter Garden

As a bunch of y'all may have noticed, I ain't been on here in ahwhile... 'bout time to put the winter greens in the ground. Got collards, cabbage, califlower, broccoli, brussel sprouts in six-packs. Howevah... four inches of rain over the past 48 hours. Ground's wet. Think I'll load the new AT PRO in the Dodge and take a ride. 100+ year old church in the woods 'bout 20 minutes away... got a '26 SLQ there last time. It's too wet to turn soil in the garden, but should be great for signals.

Don't forget spinach,swiss chard(s),beets,rutabagas,parsnips,sugar beets and brussel sprouts.

Don't know what it's like down there, but you can grow a lot of cold hardy vegies in climates where there is frost. I had a winter garden in WA state, & grew a lot of greens etc. even tho it says winter garden doesnt mean it grows all winter. sugar snaps can be planted in late fall, & again in early winter (even in the snow, aptly named snow peas) experiment & see what you get. even it it's just a few harvests, it's better than most stuff at the stores.

It's been in the 80-90's here, but today it's finally cooled down & we have some rain. Happy dance!!! no deer rubs, but lots of coyote action.

Down heah in souf Jawja, ALL cold hardy veggies will grow throughout the winter. We do get cold snaps and freezes, but the plants make it through, and continue to produce. They do fall off and die when it gets hot.

I was gonna do that. Here, turnips will last pretty far into cold weather, though they wouldn't make it all the way through, I don't think, as they get soft. They're the only crop I have had in cold weather.

Hey, Caintuck, I got at least a dozen packets of turnip seed. Gonna sow here in the next week or so. Down heah they'll make all winter long.
