H i guys....

January thaw ---- whoooohoooooooooooooo...............went from -20 to +10 in just a few days.....temps dropping again tomo... so back into hybernation again.

These are my finds from a couple hunts......

Couple 1800,s coins.... a Newfoundland 1 cent and a 1832 Nova Scotia half penny token in nice shape.

The whistle is very nice and has a high pitch ..works great.

Musket balls were plentiful along with a couple modern bullets and a long old bullet.

Also a couple WHAT IS IT items...if you have any ideas let me know.

Hey I just dug the same halfpenny token a couple weeks ago. Just out of curiosity, in what region did you find it? I dug mine in southern Massachusetts

Wow --that halfpenny sure has travelled...makes for a interesting story of how it got there..but i guess we will have to use our imagination on that one.

Dug mine right here in Nova Scotia...my 3rd one.

I found a old colony railroad tag that came from Massachusettes.......guess things moved a lot on the railroad back in them days....i,ll find it and post it here.

Cool OLD COLONY RAILROAD tag.......

Guess we are even--i forund something from there and you found something from here !!!!

The car is actually an E-type Jaguar. I believe Matchbox. Great finds! I agree with the need for dynamite, I live in way upstate NY and the ground is as hard as concrete right now. HH!

+10 Celsius...

ya...lol.. big difference in C and F

the ground "had" no frost in it at all.... I LOOKED LIKE I WAS IN A MUD WRESTLING MATCH AT THE END OF THE DAY..

LOL... as soon as the hole was dug it filled with water...mud everywhere.

But now back into a deep freeze.. so no more detecting on land for awhile... bad snow storm and -10 today

The pewter whistle is one of the best I have seen, they do start in the 18th C, finish in 19th C.

Great finds !!
On the Newfoundland coin I believe a see an "8" in the area of the date year.
That would put it in the range of 1865 to 1896; referred to as KM #1. (Though the coin was minted periodically through 1936, no other 'large cent' coin year beyond 1896 was ever minted.
By US standards, that's a rather rare coin since no year had a mintage of over 400,000.
Don.....
PS: To clarify the above........'no other 'large cent' coin year beyond 1896 was ever minted WITH THE NUMBER 8 in the year.

All those finds would have been good on a warm day, but braving the cold it seems you were VERY well rewarded. Thank you for all the great pics.

Good finds Aqua, Kudos for getting out, I should have but didn't, sad face.

Looks like the other toy is a ship ?

I got a whistle very similar to that in 2013. Last pic in my year end post here.
