Found this in Madison,La I'm new to this and loving it. Found this recently. Hope to get back to this location soon. I thought this was a really cool find. There was a world war 1 shipyard at this site.

Welcome to Treasure Net !!!
The badge was worn by workers in shipyards as an emblem of the patriotic service they rendered to the country in time of war. They could be worn only by those who actually worked on ships. As a reward for faithful service, every worker who had fulfilled his (or her) obligations at the termination of the war was given the badge outright in the expectation that it would serve as a souvenir as the worker's contribution to victory.

Welcome to Tnet from an Ohio coin shooter. Love the badge, and look forward to reading your future posts and seeing more cool finds.

Since the badge is numbered, a record somewhere may tie the number to a name--should you wish to pursue returning the badge to the owner or one of his/her heirs.
