Metal Detecting
I live on the site of a WW1 training camp in South Carolina. I got started detecting when I found a WW1 US infantry equipment marker 4 years ago while using a 1976 Bounty Hunter Big Bud in my backyard. A few months ago I went to an old house site, near my house (the camp was huge!) and I found a WW1 US great seal button obviously from the training camp and a 1910s pocket knife. Well today I revisited the site but my dad decided to go to. I found nothing! He found a 1920s Chevrolet hubcap and the knife. The knife is a mess knife issued from the Rock Island Arsenal. It is dated 1905. The only thing it stabbed into was meat and bread! But none the less an extremely cool find. He later tells me there were more signals in the hole. I can only guess its the blade! I'm going back later to go find the blade! And to HutSiteDigger this is still the same site that everything comes from that has been in the "What is it?" section. If anybody is interested in the other relics found that relate to the camp let me know. Also if your interested in the name let me know. Thanks for looking! Good luck and happy hunting!

Awesome! I love local history. I'm trying to put together a display of relics I've found from it. Nice conversation piece. Happy hunting!
