One minute happy to be digging Victorian coppers, then bang !!!. This I think is special, very special. Not sure of the age, but guessing ancient. There's six faces on the find, it appears to be wearing an helmet. It is solid cast, in bronze, and heavy. Time for a well earned pint of mead, one thinks.

Robert.

Rob, Outstanding find, congratulations! Maybe check the history of the Roman diety, "Janus," as he is a multi-faced god of beginnings and endings. My vote is for a cane topper. Sub 8-)

A very interesting and beautiful piece of history.

That is a such a cool find , looks ancient and hope it is something of significance , congrats ..cheers Mick

Now that is COOL!!! It does look ancient, and I hope it can be identified.

That thing is cool as hell Rob. Can't wait to hear what it is

Awesome find! It's what ever you think it is I'll proven other wise! Congrats!

Man! That is one awesome piece!

very cool, Like to have that for a gearshift handle but its probably very old and worth??? Great find!

That is awesome man! when you take measurements and more photos, can you take some of the inside of its base? Wonder if it could have been a pommel from a knife or small blade?

Fantastic! The first thing that came to my mind is whistle. But I see cane topper too, or scepter top. I would love to know, that is one cool piece. Congrats!

Ironically I am watching a documentary about "The Real Dark Ages" as I type this. I am jealous with the history. But then I am 3rd generation Swiss in the U.S.

That is kind of spooky rob, cooler then hell though.I like the walking stick/cane topper idea, whatever it is it is neat

I do bronze casting as a hobby.
This is a very exciting find.
Congratulations!! Great find.

That is one strange beast. Very cool.

Wow,, thats nice,, congrats

Fascinating find ! I wasn't aware that you guys/gals were mead drinkers - I too have developed a fondness for it . I think we have the
Vikings to thank for it....(Thank you Vikings !)

I remember there was a guy from somewhere in Europe that was posting that found something similar. Not sure what it was he found, but I remember it had allot of faces on it like that.I think he was digging Viking stuff.
