went out yesterday to hunt the place that has been giving up some good finds lately. was swinging for about an hour when I decided to hit a corner of the field I haven't hit yet. I got a funny signal ,it went from 45 to 85 back and forth over and over again. I walked away but went back to see what it was.. it read 10+ inches but I hit glass around a foot or so. out popped a glass jar full of jewlery:hello2: I was like "you have to be kidding me!! I swung the at pro over the hole again and boom 45 to 85 again so I dig alittle more and holy crap a metal box :-o .. I get it out and open it up and it is full of mud, buuuuut I started to clean it out and boom jewelry starts falling out.. at this point im shaking so bad I didn't know what to do. I dug by had very slowly and hope I got it all out. after getting it home and cleaning I saw that it was mostly costume jewelry but there was some 14kt and a bunch of silver and even silver spoons .. my question is why would someone bury mostly costume jewelry ? anyway it was I dig I will never forget ,I'm still not real sure what I have as I only cleaned about half of it. id say there is maybe 100 to 125 pieces in all... PICS ARE A LITTLE FURTHER DOWN IN POST...

Great Story and welcome to the club - not many people get to find a cache!!!! Do you have any Pics? Would love to see the finds and what they buried it in, interesting to study up on what time period the cache is from.

I cant get pics to upload it my post.. lets try again

pics please

im uploading the pics but they aren't going into my post ???

Awesome! That's one you won't forget!

I'm guessing either someone buried it for safe keeping and never recovered it or its's a hot cache, depending how long it's been buried and the age of the of the jewelry, may give you a little insight. Rare find tho, congrats!

I'm still trying to upload the pics.. anyone else having issues? I never had a problem before.

Oh well the just won't upload..I did tell the story and have pics at detect America site. Just look up matthew freas on there I guess

I'm able to upload with no issue. What are you using, pc , tablet, smartphone?

Not trying to be controversial...

A story without pics is just that. I feel your pain with the pictures not posting. I hope you figure it out. I am intrigued.

It's good that you followed your intuition about that area of the field.
That's an awesome find.

I may be stating the obvious and sorry if I am but when I upload photos it shows them uploaded but I have to touch/click on the uploaded icon again and it gives me the option to apply the photo to thread. Could it be your not applying that final step. I use a smart phone only. Hope this helps

the pics

got them up

Wow- amazing. Congratulations. Any chance of pictures of after the clean up?

Great find ! I'd love to see some close ups of the more well built pieces (after cleaning ) the silver pieces too - Some of the costume
jewelry may be collectible - better pieces will usually be hallmarked on the underside. Dating the stash could be tricky - but hallmarks
could help with that too- (looks to be 1950's -60's to me )

(the jumble of some 14K thrown in with the costume stuff, tossed with the silver wear chest - really feels like a
domestic burglary stash to me )
