I have been using this canvas holster for my blackpowder pistol when I hunt for many years now but I never knew anything about it. I believe I purchased it at an Army surplus store back in the 70's. Is this WWll? And used by whom?
I believe it says "M S & U Ltd. 1942." My research indicates it may stand for Montreal Suspender & Umbrella. http://cgi.ebay.com.my/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200248815881 The brass snap says "UNITED CARR CANADA." The stitching looks almost pink. Ignore the green pistol belt, it is modern, but works well.

It may have just faded to pink. That said pink is a very effective camouflage colour for the desert and was used by Stirlings Long Range Desert Patrol for their vehicles and the Germans used in their camoflage uniforms. If my memory serves me correctly German armoured troops had pink piping on their uniforms to denote their corps.
