I don't know that it is without firsthand examination, but it looks a lot like many pieces from the 20s & 30s that we refinished back in our garage sale/flea market days....

These dressers (and other furniture) were often made from different inexpensive species of wood, and then fake grain was painted over, making it look like the whole piece was oak (or whatever).

A few times, we even found oak grain painted onto oak. Go figure. :dontknow:

None of this matters if you like the piece the way it is, and the price is worth it to you.

Could you take a picture of the edge of a drawer? Is it a dovetail, or ?

check the backs and bottoms of the drawers, inside the drawer back panel and side panels. sometime info was written on these areas which seldom seen the light.

Also look at the underside of the top(inside) Sometimes info is there.
