Ya never can tell...

After the last couple of hunts - 3 cent find on one and a 9 cent find on the next - I wasn't expecting much this morning but ya jes never can tell what you will find. I went back to the beach this morning and spent the first hour in the water about waist deep. Not one hit! Not even a pull tab! Sheesh. So I decided to go up on dry sand to dry off a little before I got back in my car and right off the bat I started hitting coins. Mostly pennies but occasionally I would find something a little higher. I even found a Canadian penny this morning. That's ok as long as I'm finding something I keep going. That is what I did, I kept going. And.....

I found a beautiful silver cross! The chain is not broken and it is just beautiful. It is Silver says 925 on the clasp and on the cross itself. I have no idea what the stones are. They have a slight blue tinge to them. I don't know what they are but it sure is a pretty find. All in all, I found $1.82 in clad, 1 Canadian penny and the cross. I'll take it!

Good job! I believe your stones are Clear/Blue Topaz. They are pretty popular stones used with Silver. Check them out by searching Google. You can type in "Silver Cross With Clear Blue Topaz". Some are high dollar depending on the maker.

Thanks DaChief. I did look it up and you are right that is what the stone looks like. I just know that it is very pretty and hasn't been lost for long. It really sparkles!

Mumzie.......What a beautiful cross, as you can see by peoples post.You find many rings compared to the number of necklaces, chains, bracelets. I believe that there's two reasons for this, it's harder to lose a necklace or bracelet and the other is many detectors have a hard time with small chains, bracelets and necklaces. Cherish this find because they are far and few between.......rdi

Nice Haul!! Love the cross. Went a little bit in the rough surf (in Pinellas) shin high, found nothing.
Parking meter is up so have toleave. Find 35 cents right by boardwalk.

I think I have to dig up alot more trash before the Gods will let me have jewelry!!!!

For people like me.... it's a crap shoot. For others... they know the places to go .... how to hunt and are lucky as all get out. Just keep hunting... sooner or later you will find something good.

Sometimes it's worth it to dig the trash. I found this baby amongst pull tabs on a beach that is pounded every 15 minutes by professionals. Stick to it, they (these surf gods) will award you for your hard work.

I like hunting in the evening because I can be in my own world, by myself, enjoying the time.

I envy the ones that can go out when the beach is full. I went one day with my son, who was 6 years old at the time, to this one beach. He told me daddy I can't go out there like this, there are too many pretty girls. I always feel funny when people are watching me. I know that 99% are watching in envy because they want to get a metal detector. In fact 100% of the people that will talk to me when there are people around will ask me questions about the metal detector or even offer advice.

There are no no-seeums in the night time. You get to see the stars. Every so often you might see a falling star. Just remember don't go out there alone at night; take a friend or a fellow treasure hunting partner. Some places might prevent a head lamp, just use it when you find something. Your eyes will be accustomed to the moon light in no time. Things even seem to glow at the beach at night.

Also, just like the pros recommend, dig all signals. I found the ring in a mine field of pull tabs, that one of the professionals passed over because of the pull tabs.
