Yesterday's 4 boxes of halves

Box 1: Skunk

Box 2: 7 NIFCs, no silver

Box 3: 2 NIFCs, no silver

Box 4: 8 NIFCs, no silver

I'm bummed about the lack of silver, but I'll order more halves and get some dime boxes with the cash from the dump bank while waiting for the new halves.

bummer on the halvles, i do that with the dump cash alot to, buy dimes....and then partially buy the halves with dimes

theyre usually happy to get dimes to.

I hate to have someone else taking my silver dimes out of circulation, but my advice would be to throw a few boxes of dimes in the mix.

...aaaaannnnd I got skunked on $640.00 of dimes.

Plus the coin machine counted out only $634.51, with 11 dimes counted as pennies. I'm not a happy camper, but the bank said that they will have get any amount that they are over (once the Fed counts the coins) back to me, and they'll be getting the machine checked out. This is not the first time I thought that the machine undercounted, and I let them know (it was a bit light on some nickels last week).

Oh, well, sometimes you get weeks like mine, sometimes you find 60 silver halves in a box. I would just like to have one of the latter experiences again instead of getting skunked...but I'm in this game for the long haul.

The coin counters in my area are always right on(give or take only $0.50) considering I dump between $100-$700 at a given time.

Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. I use the machine alot, don't want a bad reputation with my dump/pickup bank(I dump where I pick up), so I consider the loss of a few cents the cost of my hobby. Only if the machine is way off($5+), I would say something, but this has never happened in the 3 years I have been dumping at the same bank.

bank atlantic has started charging their customers (me) to use the counting machine. Is this common practice?

Sometimes. Today, it's all about fees, fees, and more fees. Counters can be expensive to purchase, and maintain. ffd
