Yesterday's finds 2 large cents +
I went out with another tnetr' yesterday hitting a local park that backs up to a very old little town. I was able to pull a couple good things. 2 large cents, 1915 York County PA Dog Tax Tag, a large flat button, a couple bucks in clad, owl pin and Boy scout necker chief slide. I have a question for the large cent guys out there. The large cents have the same back, I cannot make out the front of the one yet. (still soaking in olive oil) You can see the one cent and the wreath on both, But the coins are different sizes. The one is a 1841 Bradded hair (in picture) The other is just a few mm bigger and a lot thinner. (by 1/3rd) Is this just normal or am I looking at something different? This is the second one of these thinner larger large cents I have found in this general area. Since I cannot make out the front yet can anyone give me some ideas? Could this be foreign or something that used a back close to the bradded hair? I know back before the cival war the US used just about anyones coins. The area has seen Confederates also I know they had a large cent also. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
