I dunno....

Thailand has a huge gem and jewelry market. IF the metal isnt real...then the stone most likely is... not diamond necessarily, but very likely genuine stone at the least.
 
Thailand has some of the rarest gemstones around. Don't count it out until after you get both the ring and the stone tested.
