Yesterday's Hunt Scores A Seated Dime!

Met up with my buddy Micah to hunt a couple of old spots. The first spot was an old school that he had hunted before and dug some Mercs and a nice Walker half. Well he did it again and dug a few more Mercs, a Washington and another Big Walker! I found three Mercs, a Buffalo and a Red Goose token there myself. We took a break and hit another old school next to a very old church. A lot of the ground has been moved around over the years but we managed to find a small area that was producing some old wheaties. I went over by an old grown up fence row and got another wheat signal on the Etrac. I was happy to see a thin silver coin in my plug and as I was carefully cleaning the dirt off I was hoping for an old Barber. My excitement grew as I realized I was looking at an 1877 Seated! It's holed and worn thin but it's always fun to see that old silver pop up! We dug a few more wheats and Micah dug two more Mercs before we had to head home. We both had an awesome time getting out and digging some nice keepers. HH David

Really good old coins you found there ! Must be nice to have an old school house site that hasn't been hammered !

Congrats on the fist full of keepers. Looks like a nice area to hunt

My first silver was a '42 seated, haven't found one since. It was what got me into metal detecting! Great finds!

Thanks! Yeah we luck up on one every now and then in a very small town. If you take your time you can come up with some leftovers.

Thanks man. We plan to head back and hit a few more spots around there soon.

Thanks! Congrats on the '42. What was it? Dime? They don't come up often for me but I have found a few dimes and a couple of half dimes. It sure is exciting to dig one! I hope you get another one soon.

Oh yeah, it was a dime. 2 inches down in a park in my neighborhood. For me it was exciting on two fronts: seeing silver in the hole for the first time, AND seeing the rim on the coin knowing it was old! Have only hit in the 1800's a few times since, but it's a hard thing to do here in Utah. Your finds are always amazing, keep up the great work!

Now that's a great first silver to get started in the hobby! Thanks and good luck!

Sweet hunt!! You do the research then reap the rewards, always jealous of your finds.

Glad you cleaned that seated up, now at least I know what they look like. Lol I'm still working on building my barber stack (2) so I have a feeling it might be awhile before I find my first seated.
Not to worry I still get excited finding Rosie's and Mercs.

Congrats on another Awesome hunt!!

Nice hunt !

Nice hunt!! Cool looking marble!!! :icon_thumright:

That hunt was Sooper, Dave:laughing7:
Man, you guys killed the silvers.

Thanks guys! Yeah we lucked up on a couple of nice spots this time. I know we've had a lot of hunts that produced squat and we spend more time driving around and knocking on doors than detecting. It makes it worth it when you get a hunt like this tho!

that's a great fistful of old coins, cant beat a hunt like that!!

Nice pile of goodies
