Still following everyones advice I spent four days in the Llano uplift.
This time I spent my time crevicing and working one of the creeks.
The crevicing failed as someone, you gotta be on TNet,had worked a dredge the week before and cleaned every crevice I could find.
To bad your dredge couldn't get up the little creeks. LOL
I found nothing, nada, zip in the crevices but in the creeks..........

Jed would be proud of me. This was from just 2 spoons and I can see gold all through my cons.
I could not have done this without of all of you giving a newbie old guy some excellent advice. Thanks!!!

The only thing that's better than this site is the people who populate it. After a year in "training" I can find gold just about anywhere on the river, just not very much so far. But that ALWAYS beats no gold, no matter what the amount. Well done!

Chunky from the Llano. Nice work. Waiting for the final shot.

These came from a feeder creek. I have been working the cons all day and pulling more little flakes from them.
Malcom Long, the ranch owner told me about this area. He said he had dug out an area on the creek to widen it for flow and some guys worked the diggings and found some decent gold so I headed just down from where he dug and worked the big rocks and massive exposed tree roots to come up with a half a bucket of cons. He also told me that the biggest flake he had seen come out was the size of a corn flake. Malcom is in his 80's and lived his whole life on the ranch. His family dates back into the early1800's in the same house which is built around the original cabin. I could have talked with him all day but his tales of gold got me antsy and I had to leave.
Once I do my final clean up tomorrow I will post the whole adventure which has some shocking parts to it!

Shoot, can't wait for full story!

Nice work fishnfacts! That's the biggest gold I've seen from the Llano in years.

Well since everything in Texas is bigger and all I've ever heard of being found in the Llano river is fly poop sized gold, ya'll must have some HUGE flies there. (Almost as big as the skeeters in LA.) ;) Good work as it shows that thinking outside the box does work!

Fishnfacts, are you near the Llano Estacado? Have you ever heard of the Comanche chief Quanah Parker? Maybe your old friend has heard of him as QP was active in the mid 1800's in that area. It seems that every Indian that I've talked to in the southwest knows QP as we know George Washington. TTC

Llano Estacado is a different region than the Llano uplift. The uplift is south, not to far from Waco where the Estacado is more over by Lubbock.

We have had rain here in Arlington basically for the last 2 days so I have not finished my clean out. Most gold found in this region is flour but pickers and nuggets are found. If you stick to the well known areas and work it the way everyone else does you will find the flour however, like I have said in my previous posts, I am in it for the adventure and am not following the beaten path. The creek I worked was well over two miles from my base camp and I hiked in under the cover of darkness. I will have more on why this was necessary and will come in my post after I finish clean up. On another note, I dug some prickly pear to put on my patio and decided before I dumped the extra dirt to classify it and I will be danged if I didn't see something shiny in it so I will be panning all that dirt also.
My wife who thinks I am crazy is now starting to get into the gold I am finding and asking me when I will sell it. LOL, hated telling her that none is for sale, at least not the adventure gold, but if I ever get out to you guys area where there is heavy deposits, who knows.

I have and have two Bronze & Mixed Media Sculptures on Marble of him. They were done by Artist Christopher A. Pardell that are very life like and are called "Defiant Commanche" and are only a few of the many sculptures I have of mainly Western Native American Indian Chiefs and Wolve sculptures by Kitty Cantrell and Mark Hopkins. The pic below shows my' two Quanah Parker sculptures next to "Victorious" Red Cloud.

I also would like to read more about your Gold prospecting exploits! It appears from this Thread and your other Thread on the same subject, that you need to be careful about what you devulge and get the land owners involved in getting the trespassing Gold Prospectors removed.
