There is a website I go to where I can hunt ebay for
0 bids
1 hour to go
under $2.00 open bid

Monday I saw something I liked with a 99¢ opening bid.
This was a hand pencil drawn piece of art of my choice. The samples looked nice.
the seller had only registered 3 weeks ago and had zero feedback.

Oh well, I bid my 99 cents and won. The paypal screen came up and I paid.

Later I get a message from the seller that after she finishes the art she will bill me for $75.00
I immediatly go to ebay to see if I missed anything and no word of extra charges.
so i politely message her she can't do that and that I won the auction for 99 cents.

Then she goes off on me and gets all huffy and tells me to cancel the order & take it up with ebay. She is quitting ebay.
I was mister nice guy but not anymore.
I report her and the auction to ebay (there are rules about wanting more money after a final sale)
and leave her a negative feedback.

This is what I left: What an attitude. I win auction for 99¢ and she wants $75.00 more. 1st feedback!

and this gives her a -1
I didn't know a neg takes away a point.

That is a crazy story, Dan!

I am literally stunned by some of the people that I've met in this world that have no idea how business, (or ebay, in this case) work.

Years ago, when I was really active in the printing business and owned my own business, I got in a jam and needed some hired help to get an order processed. I called a guy who had been bugging me to death for work. I called him and offered $20 an hour, plus $10 cash for lunch.. I also offered a cash bonus of up to $100 if all the orders got done in time, which would have been EASY to do for someone who would work hard and fast. I'm talking REALLY easy to accomplish.

I needed the labor to help box up some printed items into individual boxes.

Instead of saying yes or no to my offer, he acted as if it were some sort of business negotiation. I am still stunned by his questions: How much are you going to make? Will you split it with me on a 60/40 deal??

So, lets see...I can work for years building a sales relationship with a company, and then risk EVERYTHING I have on an order (and if the order fell apart, I would lose it all), do all the work for the order, lay awake at night worrying over the order, work my tail off for 2 weeks making sure the order gets done right, and a guy I was trying to help by giving him $350 in cash for about 12 hours of his time....wants to split the profit from an $8,000 job.

It sounds like my guy needs to hook up with your artist/ebay seller so they can figure out this world together.

(ETA: I hired two gals for $10 an hour, bought their lunch, and gave them $50 each as a bonus for getting the entire order done in 6 hours. You would have thought that I bought them a new Chevy Camaro when I handed them the $50 bonus!)

If you treat people kindly and with respect it REALLY pays off in some great ways..With the crappy way most jobs treet there workers today ,,I do not think you will ever have trouble getting those 2 girls to work for you again,,,Word of caution tho if it is one of those jobs with a real tight marigen warn the girls befor hand that there will not be a bonus...Keep up the great work.

I am still active in the printing business. Been doing it for quite a few years. Right now I am answering your post and should be quoting a job. Gotta go. ;)

How much are you going to make? If I box the job up for you, will you give me a 40% cut of the profit?

Just kidding, Dan.

By the way, I was a broker for years. What do you do? Sales?

A friend of my cried about the same scenario and I had to tell him the same thing. One of his other friends bid jobs to clean up foreclosures and on this one instance made 2k for pulling out a tree. He paid my buddy 200 bucks to help and it was agreed upon before the job. Well he found out later how much his friend made off the deal and was pissed. I told him if he wanted to make that much then to take the time to learn to bid the jobs and get the work then hire an employee like he was for help. He didn't quite like that advice... and he will never be hired to help with any work i do in the future because of that attitude.

If the artist wanted a job on commission, with the $75 after the fact, she should have clearly stated that, in her auction.
And then she gets all huffy........ yeah, that's them artsy types, for ya! :laughing7:
I would have reported her to ebay, request my money back from Paypal, and probably left the neg feedback, too.

Hey you printer guys, I'm interested in someone to pop out some bumper stickers for me. Do ya'll do those?
I know nothing about pricing, colors, etc...... PM me, if you ya'll do that, and thanks.

Nope, I lost count of the times I have told our sales staff I am glad I do not have to deal with customers.

I do the pricing. They call me an estimator but I don't like that title. An estimate is just a guess. My prices are right on to the dollar. cause I am dollar dan.

Sorry, no bumper stickers here. Our presses are as big as a train locomotive.

But go here: https://www.fiverr.com/search/gigs?...ry=bumper+stickers&x=0&y=0&page=1&layout=auto

everybody does everything for $5
I use them all the time for little things for my home business.

Did your wife find out about the happy ending?
