King George II half penny, silver cufflink and more
Last Friday I found a virgin 18th century home site and went home with a 1770s King George III half penny. During the past week I made several return trips, and the finds kept coming.
Saturday morning was a little slow but I did manage a couple of nice flat buttons.

Monday Dirtstalker and I detected the small field where the home site was and early on I scored a second King George half penny-this one a KGII. The date is not legible, but based on the bust it would have been between 1740 and 1754 (thanks Iron Patch for the id).

After finding a nice domed button with a drilled shank and a pewter spoon handle (surface find), the last signal of the day turned out to be an intact silver cufflink with the shank intact. This was my first cufflink and as my wife would say I was pretty "chuffed."

After all the good finds I had to go back Tuesday, and was glad I did. Started out really slow, with no keepers for about an hour. Then things got a lot better, starting with an intact saddle shield.

The best find of the day was a huge 36mm engraved dandy button. It rang up as a loud upper 70s signal on the ATPro & I thought I had another copper, but was still happy with the find.

Then I found a decorative wax seal fob-another first for me. Thanks go out to Crusader for the id.

A few other odds and ends were found to close out another good day.

This is one good site that just keeps on giving! To be continued...
