Your Average Box of Pennies?

Just wondering what you find in your average box of pennies. I finished my first one just now and am very pleased with the results. Here's the keepers:

Obviously I'm only keeping wheats other than the 2011-looking 1960. So what's your average box of pennies like, and what's your best?

My penny boxes range from 10-25 wheaties on average. Last week I got about 5 dollars worth of CWR pennies and scored 250+ wheats and the rest were copper. Now why can't they all be like that?

18 is average, the lowest I ever got was 8, the highest I ever got was 32. But I have been consistantly getting 18 wheats per box. My last box actually was a litle above average(21 wheats)

16.8% copper on hundreds of boxes, and an average of 6.6 wheats per box. Your aea is higher, so enjoy the wheats. :-)

I've done 60 boxes of cents. Probably average about 12 wheats per box. Most I've ever gotten was 70+ and the least was 3. Average about 4 Canadians too, plus the odd coin from the Bahamas, Barbados, Panama or the United Arab Emirates. I've found one Indian in all that time, in my 7th box... still waiting on the next one.

I don't hoard copper so I don't keep stats on that.

My average is on the low side. About 11%-12% copper and 3 wheats. My best box had 8.

I average between 15-20 wheats per box... i get string wrapped and get canadians every other roll or more. My best box yeilded 55 wheats and I've found 2 Indian head cents and 20 wheats from 1909-1915 and about a thousand from 1916 to 58.... I keep all nice looking 60's and good condition 2009 variations.

I don't save the copper. I am lucky to have a friend who is the vault teller at one of my local banks, so I get the $50 cent bags right off the sorter usually two times a week. Since I started searching in July I average about 15-20 wheats per bag I get from there. I save all 60s & 70s AU & BU examples I find, alo RPMs and die varieties. There are about 20 specific dates/rpms I keep an eye out for.

In late July I was lucky enough to find one of the rarest variety LMCs that are out there, the 1988D 1c RDV-006. I had it authenticated by Billy Crawford & John Wexler, then sent it to ANACS for grading and encapsulating. It graded as the Top Pop of the examples currently known, MS 63RD!

So, it just goes to show you that they are out there if we are willing to take the extra time to look closely! Good luck hunting everyone! Back to my bag & the search!!

I used to do 40 - 60 boxes of pennies per WEEK. For probably two years.

Right now i hve my ryedale put aside and I've been working nickels. Just needed the break. But with the volume i did, I was able to get specifics on wheats and coppers per box. At least for here. LIke Happy GIlmore says though - Phoenix is lower than most places for ALL sorts of CRH boxes. Pennies included. i WISH I could get 24% on copper. That would be a HUGE difference for me - my calculations say to the tune of a TON more than I have now. But it is what it is. At least houses are great buys in Phoenix. :-) LOL> Gotta have SOMETHING that is better ot buy her than back east!
