Your most dug year of wheat penny.

Unless you're like me and have not found a wheat penny in a month , you have most likely found quite a few (like 15 since I started in march,Yes not many). Anyway, what is your most common year of wheat penny. Mine is 1956 D, I have found about 5 out of 15 from that year.

I started 2 months ago and have found 65. My oldest was 1928.

edit: forgot to say my most dug year is 1944

I've found 32 this year so far and it's a tie between 5-1917 Philly's and 5-1944's (a mix of Denver and Philly's) a close second is 4-1919's (a mix of all 3 mints). the oldest is a 1910 philly (no mint mark).

Started detecting in March and haven't found anything but wheaties. Scored a '46 tonight, '40 Saturday... My oldest is a '09 found in the place I found the '40 tonight. I'd trade my next 5 for something silver.

46 is my most common.

I've found 352 Wheats. Subtract 17 with unreadable dates = 335. The most common date is 1944 with a total of 43.

This month here in Canada I've gotten 2 1946's and also 2 1902 IH's.

That's a tough question for me without doing some serious counting. Just by memory, I'd say my most common is the '56D followed by the '57D. Next in order would be the '44P, '45P, '46P, '53S, '52S, '42P. and '58D. If you need an exact count, I can probably get a pretty close estimate of the 20,000 plus wheats I've found over the years....just let me know.... I'm sure a lot will depend on where in the country you're detecting. East coast it's much more likely to find P mints than S mints. I started detecting on the east coast and then moved to the west coast so I've had a taste of both along with travel through out the rest of the country.

I found one of those earlier this year that wasnt even in the ground..it was lying on top...which made me think a bum dropped it.


My most common is MOS DEF 1944....I find at least 2 a week....most the time in the same day

I have about an equal number (≈40) of 1944 and 1945. The oldest is a 1910S, in extra fine condition, worth about $25.
