Hit a local park today. Found a number of coins from the early 50s. I was right next to the oldest pool in town, and I also found a locker key tab in the vicinity of the coins. Maybe the key tag is from the same era? It was neat.

Also dug dozens and dozens of nails. I cannot believe how many nails are buried in our city parks. I could build a house. And I only dug the ones where a coin was indicated underneath (LOVE the 3030).

Got about 14 hours in this weekend. Fun time.

I found a 50 franc coin from 1952 in my parents yard. I was looking for a ring my mother lost. I also found a 1964 D Dime!

D'oh, wasn't near a radio. I was detecting around in my back yard.

Quite amazing how many coins are in our city lot. I have pulled up at least a dozen or more.

When your detecting go slow and listen carefully for those deep weak signals. Out here we get alot of dirt buildup, and after quite a few years the coins will slowly get deeper. I have detected my yard at least a dozen plus times, but last summer I dug a 1912 V nickle at 8'' down. It also helps with depth if the ground has a fair amount of moisture.

Im hoping the weather holds out tomorrow. I've been itching to try my new Whites MXT, but weather and back issues have kept me from it. I got some injections this morning at the hospital so I am hoping they work. Im planning on watching the DVD that came with my machine in the morning and then heading out to try it out.

Hello George,

I have been hitting Washington park quite a bit over the past few days. I've pulled up 20+ coins (some silver), and yesterday pulled a gold ring and a musket ball.

The problem with Washington (and all of the other parks in town) is that they are extremely trashy. Garbage everywhere. It is slow going. Same for every park I have tried. Most of them in Casper are also loaded down with nails. Bajillions of nails. I could build several houses with all of the nails I've dug.

You could also try Sandy Beach at Alcova. I have found a bunch of coins out there. Another feller I met has found a few rings. Again though, you will dig thousands and thousands of pull tabs. Trash everywhere. You can avoid the trash, but a pull tab signals exactly like a ring. For that reason, I dig everything.

Only thing to watch out for in Casper is to full your holes back in appropriately. Get a small digging tool (like a lesche) and make it pretty one you leave. I aim for people never knowing I was there digging.

Good luck,
WM

Well things are picking up in here.

Tex, I've been dealing with back issues myself, I feel for ya. Just go slow, dig everything, and learn what the detector is telling you.

I have not been out since last weekend, but I will hit the ballpark tomorrow. Or...I might go fishin'

Shunkaha, where are you at? Welcome to TN and the WY forum.

Welcome George, looks like there are Casperites coming out of the woodwork.

Adams park looked like dogs were digging up coins, hide yer holes or the city will pass a new ban on metal detecting! Good job on the gold ring!

That's too bad. I had been thinking about trying Adams park. It hasn't been a park super long, so I doubt it holds much old stuff.

I have been noticing a number of folks with detectors already this summer. I certainly hope they all do a decent job of filling their holes.
