First time I ever had a MD in my hand!!! (First find)

My husband and I bought each other a MD for Christmas. It rained yesterday and I had to work late
Today I got home from work when it was starting to get dark. As soon as I started I got a hit in my front yard. I don't even know how to adjust the MD yet It said it was about 7-8 inches. I dug and found a 1935 Mercury Dime. By the time I filled the hole up it was dark
My house is 125 years old. I suspect I will be finding a lot more here.

I have a question.... Half of my basment is dirt. Anyone think I could have any luck down there?

Hey, Debid, that's a great first find. The basement sounds like a great place to look. Too bad I didn't have my md yet when we dug out our basement floor and poured cement. I wish I could go back.

when i first started hunting , took me 1 month before i found my first silver coin, ur doing great

I think the basement would be a good place, when I live din Missouri a friend of mine had an old radio shack defector...err detector. our home had a dirt floor in part of it as well. We dug up a few dimes from the 30's and 40's a buffalo knickle and a badly worn indian head. Great fun as a kid though. No tell ing what you may find in your basement with a modern quality detector. Anyway good and safe hunting.

Even though my first find was a 1922 silver dollar (in my front yard) it took me almost a year to find my first merc!!

I love those coins.
