OK you silver hounds... Here's your chance to post your totals for the 2006.
How many 90%'ers, 40%'ers, war nicks, and other silver have you found in coin rolls this year?

I will start it off with a big, fat ZERO. ;D

You can update your postings as you add to the silver count.
They say confession's good for the soul. Have you been wondering, like me, how many ounces of silver are out there?

Let's hear about your finds!

HH,
Bob

FINAL PLANNED UPDATE 1/7/07, 4:45 PM EST

OK, people. Here's the final totals for 2006 (unless someone posts a late update, of course).

It will be VERY interesting to see how 2007's totals stack up against 2006's. I am quite curious to see if the silver still in circulation out there is on the decline, or if the supply is big enough to maintain numbers similar to the hefty totals for this year.

90%'ers found = 2488 (899.88 ounces of silver);
40%'ers found = 11,604 (1716.23 ounces of silver);
Quarters found = 745 (135.47 ounces of silver);
Dimes found = 1540 (111.40 ounces of silver);
War nickels = 189 (11.67 ounces of silver);
Dollars = 46 (35.58 ounces of silver)
Indirect silver = 13.1 ounces

Total silver bullion weight = 2923.34 oz (that's 182.71 POUNDS!!!);
Total value of silver = $35,430.83
using 1/5/2007's quote of $12.12 per ounce.

What a year, folks. You guys performed above and beyond the call of duty!

NOTE - only post for 2006 in this thread. Please use the new thread for 2007.

HH,
Bob

PS - I will accept late updates. Happy hunting in 2007, people. Tally ho!

Re: Silver Totals for 2006: 104 POUNDS RECOVERED - updated 11/4/06, 9:00 PM EST

Ok guys, heres my results. Out of roughly $21000 searched between 19 Apr and 12 Oct Ive found:
697 40%ers
148 90%ers

The breakdown for the 90%ers is:
1 Barber
12 Franklins
3 Walkers
132 Kennedys

Also found 1 1922 Peace Dollar and 2 silver dimes. Also found were 5 silver nickels (I think).

No more roll hunting for a while now, too busy learning. Sigh. :) Good luck all!

Phillip, maybe it would be easier for Bob if you only post just your recent findings, rather than year totals which forces Bob to do math with your previous posts. Worse, he may think your totals are entirely new and accidentally add them to the grand total a second time. Just trying to keep Bob's job easier! ;D

I'm choosing to give Bob my latest figures at the end of the month just so I don't confuse him or myself! :D

Immy,

I wondered about that - wasn't sure how HobBob preferred it - I figured he'd tell me. Kinda figured an absolute number each time was better than a bunch of add-ons.

HobBob - what is your preference?

My big concern would be to make sure that I don't accidentally add your new totals to your old totals.

So if you were to say in a new post that these numbers are to be added to the previous totals, that would work. And if you made it really clear that the numbers in the new post ARE the revised grand totals, that would work also. Just make it clear which way you are posting so I don't do a boo-boo. ;D

Thanks for your understanding!!
HH,
Bob

I see you have some silver rounds and bars listed, as well as a number of Peace dollars.

What I was wondering originally was to see how much silver had been pulled out of coinage in circulation in calendar year 2006, but not necessarily everybody's grand totals for their entire silver stash.

My desire for this thread was that it would be an encouragement for folks (like myself) who haven't scored silver from circulating coinage as of yet. And (hopefully) that's what everyone else has been reporting.

Hope that helps....
If you still want me to put the entire list into the totals, I could do that, but I have a feeling that a lot of posters (including myself) have a lot more in their personal inventories than what has been found so far in '06. ;)

Also -- although the totals posted in this thread are there for anyone who wants to do the math, I have been trying to avoid connecting any one person's name with a specific dollar value or quantity of silver bullion recovered. Why? I didn't want to bruise anyone's ego who isn't finding as much as the big dogs have been.

I figured that all the big dogs needed to do to feel good about their luck is to look down at that gleaming silver pile. 8)

Bob

the rounds and bars were traded for with coinage found... so in a sense i still acquired the silver through searching. maybe they still count.

Re: Silver Totals for 2006: 104 POUNDS RECOVERED - updated 11/4/06, 9:00 PM EST

As of 11/11/2006:

Out of 1,280 halves searched I found:

20 40% all of which were in AU thru MS,
5 90% Kennedy's,
1 1963-D Franklin,
and a 1942 and 1943-S Walking Lib.

So 20 40% and 8 90%.
