I posted this earlier over in the Whites forum, but thought I'd add it here since I'm not likely to surpass it - maybe ever.

Found this awesome 1832 capped bust half dollar about 5" down in the frozen ground, across the street from my house in the woods. The woods are along a road travelled from the early 1700s between Baltimore, MD and York, PA.

Only minor cleaning (hot water and a soft brush) to get the dirt off. It came out of the ground just as you see it, shiny and sharp.

Superb find, what a beauty. I still have yet to find any half dollars or dollar coins. Maybe this year will provide a few.

Man that is nice. I hope you put it in a coin holder so it won't get scratched. That is one nice coin

Cha-Ching! What a beautiful coin; congratulations! :headbang: Breezie

How much of the road is a road now, and how much has become grown over? Have you hunted any other section
of the road? Man, what a superb find......keep us posted on other finds from that road. (I think I would make
a board named after the road, and put that coin as the highlight, plus the other important finds on it.)
Thanks for posting such a find. Must have almost given you a heart attack when you pulled it up.

That's it, I don't want one unless it looks like that.
