Hey all, found this walking along the Mississippi. Not sure if it might be a point or a clever work of nature. I don't think it's a point because I believe it is sandstone, at least judging by the little piece I accidentally broke off, but thought maybe because of the beveled edges on sides and on back end of the point.
Thanks for your help!!

hey hey
welcome to tnet
i am thinking natural stone shaped like a point and may be wrong
thank you for posting
if you post a questionable piece i will always try to give you a polite opinion of your finds

if you easily broke off a piece then I would say no, and if it is truly sandstone, then double no. but if i found that shape in the water (smoothed over time) and it was the right stone, i would have said yes.

natural I agree with Larson. Doesn't look worked. Welcome to Tnet

I believe you have a bona fide geo fact , looks like a texted book river worn piece of sandstone
that just so happens to be shaped like an arrowhead, I know I've picked up my share of pieces that
look very similar to yours thinking I had something. Keep looking though if your on the water
there a good chance there was occupation and its only a matter of time.

I think you have a geofact as well, I probably would have brought it home as well....thanks so much.
Keep posting man!!!
Thanks,
BCI

Yeah natural.

Pretty much another rock. Sedimentary rock, like sandstone, works good for grinders, abraders, and smoothers, but not for cutting utensils. You have a good eye though so keep looking!
