Well I finally pulled myself away from doing work around the house and other tasks for a little dirt digging and diving. Yesterday I got out with my buddy Rick and hit some mowed fields and one deep plowed field that shows some real promise once it gets flattened out. Got up an 1823 Nova Scotia half Penny, one blank half penny, some buttons and a beatuful musket trigger gaurd. Rick got the find of the day with an awesome piece of silver but I'll let him tell you about that.
Today I went for a dive with some of the Zodiac Divers and after scrubing our first site due to sea state we hit another wreck that went down in the mid 1700's. Years ago I got a complete Straffordshire Slipware dish from this site and today I got a complete Mallot bottle. This type of bottle was in production from 1720s to 1780s, we know the wreck went down in 1750s so it fits with the site.

And it displays very nicely with the plate.

This makes ZDD very happy.

I really like it too and will attempt to straighten it up and polish it. It's a little fancier then others I have gotten up.

Now that is high adventure!:notworthy: I have often dreamed of pulling a whole bottle with that type of age and history. Fantastic!! Any idea of the value of the plate?

Just one of those things you see and think "some day". That kind of hunting has to be a rush beyond words. Congrats on a great find.

Thanks Birdman, the value on these Straffordshire plates is a hard one to nail down. They can range from $30 all the way up to $30,000. factors include; the maker and design on it, the condition, when and where it is being sold (the right buyers have to be bidding) and provenance and this plate has that. The ship was a New England fishing boat that met it's end in the mid 1700s and you can actually see the knife marks left in it by the sailor who used it for the very last time, along with the bottle which now makes it a set. I wouldn't part with it for anything less the $5000, but that is just me. I am hoping that one day I will get some silverware off her, just to add to the set.
Good luck out there,
ZDD

Now those are some nice finds. It's not just the value, but the history you are bringing to the light of day. Way to go! My kind of finds.
