102 year old penny found in piggy bank

Tanner and I have been hitting pennies pretty hard since last November, we have probably searched at least 50 boxes. This morning I am packing Tanners lunch for school. He need 30 cents for milk. I go to a piggy bank that I keep my pocket change in. I dump out a quarter and a bunch of Canadian pennies. (Canadian pennies are rejected from my banks coin machine so I always end up with loads of them). Lately I have been giving Tanner a quarter and five Canadian pennies to give to the lunch lady. I noticed one of the pennies was a wheat penny. I was thinking it was probably one of ours that had accidentally found it way into or lunch money bank. I pushed it over to Tanner he took a look and it was a 1909 wheat penny .

It could not have been one we found while coin roll searching as we have not found that date yet.
You just never know what is going to turn up.

Thanks for reminding me, It had no mint mark, I did not think to look for the VDB. I checked an it does not have one.

nice find, a while back i found a really, REALLY worn 1909s wheat penny. not good enough quality for a scan or picture. probrably worth something to somebody. on the penny the date looks like: 19 )9 s... (half of the 0)...
