Haven't posted for a bit as I have a computer problem and it's a pain to post from my tablet. Got out last Saturday to a favorite park. Didn't find much, but then again, it depends on your perspective. Found 2 Indians including a nice old 1864. Also found 2 toasted shield nickels and a piece of a small silver spoon or fork. An Indian or shield nickel is probably on a lot of bucket lists, but I've found plenty of both. On Ann earlier visit to this park I had also pulled a few Indians in addition to a nice Barber dime and a couple of shield nickels. Again, bucket list items for many. It's probably my 4th or 5th 2 cent piece out of this park and the second this year.

The SLQ came out of the same hole as the nicer Merc at another old park I've been hunting for more than 35 years. Still stuff three.

The 1837 hard times token, my first, came from a door knock.

What checked one off my bucket list is the 1759 pistareen I found on Sunday. A pistareen is an earlier design of the 2 reales. If I have a shot at the banner, the pistareen might be it. Had been driving down the road and spotted a small spot of woods that looked interesting. In addition to the oistareen I also pulled a merc and roosie. You just never know.

Wow! Great coin hunting! Congratualtions on the Spanish silver. :occasion14:

I don't know how you guys do it not just one coin but a handful of buckets in one hunt.. Good job!!!!!!!!!!!

Beautiful 2 Reales Don, I only found one Cross Pistareen and that is a 1 Real. I like your choice of background color for the photos, I have used green pieces of felt like material numerous times and liked how it presents the silver coinage. Don

Wow that's one kicka$$ silver coin, congrats!

Nice collection of finds. Funny how we text and called each other about our 1700's find on Sunday, the were probably seven or eight miles apart, on the same day, at nearly the same time. Congrats on the Pistareen, gorgeous Banner coin. HH

Thanks Don. I like the green felt background for copper as well as silver.

Wow that is near perfect! Awesome bunch of finds! Congrats!

I would vote banner if i could. You think working from an i-pad is a pain, doing it from a phone...it sucks!

Incredible coins Don,
Why are you so modest??
I would order a case of Adult Diapers if I was constantly finding coins like those.
Congratulations and Banner

Adult diapers? That's one I didn't think of. I'll have to remember that next time I head out to a great spot :)

Don what's the edge look like on that Pistereen? I'm working an overnight and thought of this post. Great find once again

Wow WTG on the old coins....:occasion14:

Steve I'm glad you reminded us of the significant find. I've not done a search yet on Treasurenet so forgive me if I'm wrong but Isn't this a rare find for NY ?

It's in awesome condition.

Man oh man that's a gorgeous pistareen! Congrats on what I'm guessing is a very tough find in that area.

I would say they're rare everywhere. Many of these are found cut down south and not many are found whole. These coins are a bit more common down south due to the tobacco trade. The coinage would come up from the Spanish colonies down south and be traded for some smoke. This date is very late for a Pistereen and that just adds to the rarity. Such a cool find

And the Banner is up!....Congrats!...you deserve it!

I am ecstatic you post went banner Don! Killer find again!!

Sensational coin...What a find:notworthy: I think we all dream of just about anything 18th century, especially in that state of preservation. Congrats on the banner!
