The ground is frozen solid so I went for a walk at a field local to me and eyeballed this Irish evasion token...Gregory III evasion token! Not bad for not having a detector!

Someone must have made the decision post-Atkins that 1771 was a more accurate choice even given that the digits may not be quite following the rules. I didn't notice the G until you pointed it out. Other evasions have initials under the bust similarly though this one wasn't mentioned in my book -but the book I have is just a one chapter basic listing.

Counterfeit book should be out this month :icon_thumleft: Evasions won't be covered but some of the more important families will.


I do think it makes more sense. I recall many 1771 but 1777 doesn't ring a bell with me at all.
 
Great evasive :thumbsup: Think its Gregory 111 1771 looks very close to this in my book. Pity there wasn't more detail on the reverse.

Frost heave popped it out from the deep and onto the surface for you to find. Congrats!!
