Really! That ground must have a special preservative in it.

Oh wowattachment.webpagain........

I wonder what the wood handle was coated in to keep it from rotting away

Gun was cleaned as stated before but found in a old tool box next to the Battle of Saratoga.

Looks more modern to me. :dontknow:

I'll put it out there, guessing you don't have any photos before cleaning your reproduction? And the tool box is long gone?

I can tell you with absolute certainty that it is a modern replica. Two immediately apparent things stand out from the photos. In the second pic, a clearly visible seam on the frame, on the third a noticeable casting seam on the hammer. On the first pic, there is a pretty obvious gap under the hammer where the two halves of the cast frame didn't quite match up.

Not saying it couldn't have been found in a rusty box in the woods, just saying it's not a real gun, and it surely wasn't in that box in the woods for very long.

Definitely a replica.Sorry buddy.Colts didnt have grooves running down the cylinder. In fact no revolver had grooves like that running down the cylinder.

That's what I thought too. The only thing that has me wondering is that it has been fired before. Took it to a gun shop and they told me it was fired before. How can that be?

Most likely somebody was behind the counter that wore his hat on his butt.He had no clue at all about what he was talking about if he didnt know a real colt from a replica.

The 1922 silver dollar gun.... now that is funny! I thought the same thing... LOL

Well whoever told you it's been fired has no business behind the counter at a gun shop..... although..... where is this shop? I have some nice looking toy guns I'd like to sell him....

Kids toy pistol.
