1822 large cent rear.webp1822 large cent front.webp What are the odds that I would find six quarters, twenty one dimes, thirty seven pennies, one nickel and this awesome largie at the site of an 1800's church and not one silver, or even a wheatie in the bunch. It was a great day though, in one spot where I'm guessing the church has had picnic's over the years I couldn't even set my pro pointer down without it going off lol. Im serious, I found all the coins except the largie within a ten foot radius. The largie was 7" down right at the base of the foundation.

I guess I'm blessed to be in a real colonial area and my odds are good I'll find these big coppers on the right properties. I'm sure you'll get one soon. They are pretty cool.....HH

Yeah man, one of the great things about this hobby is researching the finds and just thinking about who may have been the last owner and what was going on in the world at that time.....HH

I found one last year same year it's actually my oldest coin to date

My oldest as well but this is actually my first season of MDing. I do have a "catch up" advantage though since I'm retired and can hunt whenever I want pretty much :)

Nice LC there! I dug an 1822 and it is one of the better condition LCs I have dug. I have seen others posted that were in pretty nice shape too. I think they may have used high quality copper that year.
