Went river hunting this afternoon and found only two coins but they were both keepers. Random KG II while exploring for new sites and from the river honey hole, a Mexico first republic 1 real. Pretty sure these were legal tender in US up until 1857 just like the Spanish colonial reales. One of the best coin designs ever in my opinion. Eagle eating a snake perched on a cactus

Great finds for sure. Congratulations!

Congrats on a "real" nice coin.

Eagle with a snake in it's beak standing on a cactus, how cool is that? Congrats

I love that Reale! Super congrats on the cool find!

Great saves !'
Some history: The coin states it's silver purity:" 10 Ds 20 Gs"; or .902777 fine. The fineness of silver was measured in the medieval system of dineros and granos. 12 dineros was pure silver. Each dinero was divided into 24 granos.
Don......

Very nice Mexican coin

Man oh man, you really do well for yourself! I spent two days at six Colonial and 1812 sites logging about 12+ hours in the water. I have done decently at half these sites in in the past and this time with better gear and better research I found almost nothing. I am getting pretty bummed since I am looking at my worst season in a decade. Keep up the good work I need some inspiration I am feeling burnt out. A little jealous and yet inspired. Great work!

Another great find buddy. Lotta early silver from that site. A site you will never forget. BTW where’s your Mass silver post. I couldn’t find it last night. I was going to bring it back. I miss it

Thanks. Glad Im inspiring some to keep at it. Glad I found this site too because without it I would have found very little since Spring. Found a few seated, Barbers and indians at other water sites this year but this site has spoiled me for the lean times which are sure to come

Thanks man. Its been mostly early colonial silver here but who wouldnt like finding an early Mexican Republic silver. The quality of this site is probably going to make all other sites I may find a let down. Only been a few cut Mass silvers ever posted on this forum and none went banner. Mind boggling

That is a great looking coin.

Wow, you keep pulling some amazing treasure :occasion14: Congrats and good luck on the next one.

I have a much different term than “mind boggling” but I will keep that to myself. You put it much nicer than I would have!
