About 2:00 this afternoon I put up the last piece of metal roofing on my barn addition. My reward was to be time spent just up the road at one of my older spots. I have been hunting this spot for two years now. The finds are few and far between now but you can usually count on the finds being old. So far from this cellar hole I have found, THREE, Coronet Large Cents, ONE, Ships Colonies And Commerce Token, 1776 Spanish 1 Real, coin silver spoon and many Tombac buttons.
Today I took the time to kick arround a few pieces of wood and brush to hit some of the spots that are hard to reach. First signal was the iron ring, second was the piece of lead and the third was the 1829 Capped Bust Dime. The detail on this coin is awsome!! Must have been lost early in its life. Total time spent swinging was about 1-hour. Three targets dug and I will call this a good hunt:headbang:

Yes, this should be BANNER. It will come, but it sure is taking a long time.

One of the best silver Bust coinage I have seen posted. I spent a bit of time this evenin trying to get the variety, and all I got is that it is not a JR4, but could be a JR-5.
Good luck on the ID, I went thru all the varieties on the Russ Logan website and I know wear factor comes into play, angle of photos, but I really did not see an exact match for your coin, but I believe these tired eyes think JR-5 is closest, but the date on the Obverse bothers me, does not seen exact.

Here is the website I was using, it is a bit of a pain going back and forth looking at all the varieties comparing yours, but better than nothing.

Thanks for looking:icon_thumleft: Ultimately the variety does not matter, it's just kinda' neat to know. One thing that does matter to me is the condition of the finds that I make. In my neck of the woods there is a lot of well drained, sandy soil. Perfect for preservation.
