My cousin and I worked 'til about 11:30 today and the wives had a get together at my house. So you know what that means, don't you? That's right! We went metal detecting. Started off the hunt GREAT! Maybe 10 minutes in(after digging several pieces of trash) I get a nice deep tone with a vdi of mid-70's on the F75. Totally wasn't expecting what I saw in the hole after I located it with my pro-pointer. It was indeed my second seated half dime. I just got my first 2 weeks ago. This time it's an 1853 with arrows...no mint mark. I scanned the area around the half dime, ended up finding this thing that was in the hole with a horse shoe. It's the thing that actually kinda is shaped like a horse shoe. Anyone know what it could be? Things were kinda dry after that. Maybe about 45 minutes later I got a nice vdi of 82 and about 6-7 inches down was big coin. Turns out to be the Matron head Type 2 series. Took me a while but I finally could read the "7" right under the bottom curl in her hair. So that makes it an 1837. Beginning of this year I was so set out to find a large cent this year. This now makes 5 from this property!
After that I worked my way back to my cousin to show him my large cent. Working our way back I found a nice button with a crown? type design on the front(my cousin also found the same button). I found a messed up round ball right by the button, then what's left of an iron fork and what looks like a curled up flat button. My cousin called me over after I found the iron fork and said "HEY! Found a bunch of 3 ringers!" He ended up finding 8 or 9 3 ringers in one hole. He definitely left on a good note! Ok guys, thanks for looking and happy hunting!!
