Found in my mailbox today.
A package from Stormtrooper154 and one of the envelopes had only one coin in it.

THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stormtrooper!
For those who didn't know...

If I remember the story correctly, he sold off a friend's coin collection for the widow after the guy passed away. He sold them all to TNet members only on a first come first served basis for $14 each including shipping.

Storm split them up into 100 envelopes, put them in a big bin and had his little girl pick them out at random to make it fair for everyone, no favoritism. Each packet had well over the $14 cost value from the posts I have seen. Several have had coins worth in the $50 to $100 range.

I went to work today, first day back after being off for two weeks due to my car crash and of course, none of my work got done while I was gone. It was a difficult and super stressful day, but I made it through and then even as difficult, driving home back through the area of the accident. So I have the first day back under my belt, I made it through and actually performed very well today, so I was very satisfied and relieved to get back at it.

and then, I got my mail.

Dang, I am on top of the clouds right now (no meds needed!...lol)

1877-S 5 Dol Half Eagle. From what I can gather via internet research, the value is about $400 in the shape it's in . ;D

Thanks again Stormtrooper.
WOW!!!

Wow, you are such a great guy doing this for us.
All the packets seemed to be loaded with great coins
and several were extra special. I am honored to get
that nice big gold coin, thank you so much again.

There's still another gold coin out there somewhere waiting to be reported?
A $1 coin huh? Wonder who got that sparkly little gem.

Smiling all year!

Can someone point me to the original post where he made the coins available?

Thanks

Hi Kiros

I believe that Storm deleted the original verbiage in the post (maybe so he would stop getting requests, as they were sold out) and replaced it with the "report your mailbox finds here" link that I included above.

I think I will have another contest in the next week...so watch the board!
It will be different from the one I had last month.

Ok, so everyone can hate me for this, but I'd rather see the widow get the proper value as she could have major financial needs now or in the future. Now perhaps she is financially set for life and it's not an issue, but it's something to consider.

I guess Storm would have to verify it, but I think she did pretty good ($1200) and didnt have any expense (like eBay fees) or hassle and stress to dispose of them. She should also know that she brought a lot of joy to a lot of people... what is that worth? Maybe nothing to some???

Don't hate ya Bergie!! Rock on buddy, best of luck out there and
keep smiling!

Well, I guess I could have got more from the collection selling each coin retail or on Ebay, however I feel like this was a lot more fun for everyone.  Even though I sold 100 packets for $13.00 each and that does = $1300 dollars, after shipping the coins  (costs that were more then the $1 charged to the buyers per packet) and buying $300 in more silver to make sure everyone got some silver coins as promised, we are sitting at about $950 raised.

I know that I gave away 2 gold coins (approx $600) and lots of key coins (taking the total well over what we got back and that doesn't include the rest of the collection)...Both I and the Marlynn (widow) are very happy to see other enjoy the coins as much as her husband did.  I just hope everyone was happy with what they got and hopefully I can do something like this again for everyone!

I did get a e-mail yesterday from a packet buyer that told me they found the $1 gold coin!  I asked him to post it on T-Net but havent heard back yet....I am sure he will.

Anyway, Thanks again for everyone that bought some packets and I thank you for helping out!

Nathan

BDoo,

Congrats! Some people have all the luck...I was wishing to get one, but I'm tickled to what I have received.
