1909 "S" INDIAN HEAD!!! 9 Silver, 5 Injuns, 1 V, 30+ Wheats!!!!
Hello Fellow Tnetters,
I was doing the Happy Dance today!!
I met Mike(ratman) and Curt(Bibleman) at the same park I went to on Monday. I decided to put on my 8" Sunray coil, and I'm sure glad I did. I had an even better day today!! The Indians and early wheaties started popping up. Then the silvers started to show. I ended the day with 7 silver (got a '64 Rosie in a couple hour hunt yesterday), 5 Injuns(1890, 1892, 1899, 1906, 1909S), and over 30 wheats, including another '12S semi key.
The 1909 S Indian Head has to be my greatest coin find since I've been detecting. It's got the green pimples on it
, but heck I've got one of only 309,000 minted!!!
I believe the '09S Injun has the lowest mintage of all the Indians and Wheatback pennies. It was fairly deep (about 9"). I couldn't believe when I turned it over and there was the "S". I'm so thankful to be living in CA...I've been recovering so many "S" mint coins.
I cannot believe how this little part of the park has produce for me in my last two trips. The 8" coil performed very well, and was finding coins 9+".
Also in my pics are an old brooch with colored glass stones, a 1943 20 Centavos, a 1900 V nickel, which was in the same hole as a '40 wheatie, and a silver St. Christopher medal.
I'm Ecstatic!!!
Thanks for looking and Happy Hunting!!

Handfuls of wilver and wheats make for a great day.
A 1909-S Indian Head cent makes for a career day in many metal detecting books.
So, after including the super high amounts of wilver, wheats, and 1909-S Injun, I consider this a highlight in your future hall of fame career.

One big advantage of living out West is the fact the S minted coins predominately circulated there, besides the chance of finding Calif gold coins. :P
But, I'm ectstatic that I found it!! Still my best coin found with my detector!!
