1916 Merc

This thing is a mess but someone had told my that the 1916 Merc is special. Is there a certain mint because it’s gone on this one?

Yep I didn’t start researching counterfits until after I got taken on a few counterfit gold coins. I found out the seller bought them from Aliexpress.com and what I had was junk.

That turns my stomach upside down.

Sand will wear down a coin the same as sandpaper.

Exactly! I guess the rare and mysterious 1916D Merc is one of the most, if not the most, coin counterfeited. I read that PCGS returns WAY more counterfeited "D"s than authentic ones. I couldn't imagine how you would install the D and make it look convincing. Oh well, I'll just keep digging and hoping...Ddf.

I believe they use a 1918d and trim the 8 to look like a 6

1916D in G4 condition $1,000.
only minted 264,000 of them. where has 1916 no mint mark 22,180,080. be very careful how you clean it up.

I’m thinking it’s a counterfeit. Never, ever have I seen a Merc or any other silver coin look that bad.

The silvers I dig in Arizona look as bad. They come out black and really crusty. The soil is not good on any coins there.

Wow MD...Im not even sure how I would handle that! I hope you were reimbursed or somehow justice was served...scum like that do not deserve to breathe the same air we do...Ddf.
